Dravid credits bowlers for narrow win (Bangalore Royal Challengers v Deccan Chargers - IPL 21st match)

Having won a game after losing three on the trot in the Indian Premier League, a relieved Bangalore Royal Challengers' captain Rahul Dravid credited his bowlers for the narrow victory against Deccan Chargers on Saturday.

"We are very happy, we've finally won before home crowd. It is a big relief. We have been losing close matches," Dravid said after their three-run victory over the Hyderabad side here.

"We thought we were 15 runs short (while batting) but the bowlers held on to their nerves to set up the win," he said.

The former India captain also praised Wasim Jaffer for his "sensible" knock today, though many think the opener is not suitable for the slam-bang version of cricket.

"Jaffer played sensible cricket and his knock was crucial to our victory. He is now showing his worth in this version of the game," said Dravid.

A disappointed Deccan Chargers skipper VVS Laxman rued losing too many wickets ater the 16th over as the main cause of their loss.

"It was a big disappointment to lose a close match. We were in the game till the 16th over but after that we lost too many wickets," he rued.

"Rohit Sharma's dismissal was the turning point," he added.

The sylish left-hander said his side will have to pull up their socks and play to their potential in the remaining matches of the Twenty20 tournament.

"We have not been playing to our potential so far. We have to improve and do better in the second phase."
