Chennai finish off Kolkata in style (IPL - 11th Match - Kolkata KR v Chennai SK - Presentation)

Matthew Hayden remained unbeaten on 70 off 49 deliveries as he and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni carried Chennai Super Kings crushed Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets in what was supposed to be a very close contest.

Chasing Kolkata's 147, Chennai cantered to the target with five overs to spare.

Parthiv Patel contributed a fine 21 and Dhoni scorede an unbeaten 43 off 27 balls to settle the issue for the home side.

Earlier, Jacob Oram dismissed Brendon McCullum and Ricky Ponting off successive deliveries and Muttiah Muralitharan bowled four overs for just 12 runs as Kolkata Knight Riders were restricted to a very moderate 147-9 on a flat M.A. Chidambaram Stadium pithc here.

Sourav Ganguly won the toss for Kolkata and would certainly have been expecting a much higher score than what his side got. On the other hand, Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be delighted with the bowling performance, as this is unlikely to try his formidable batting line-up.

The contest is largely being seen as a pitched battle between MS Dhoni, India's present ODI skipper and Sourav Ganguly, the former and the most successful Indian captain.

Both teams are yet to lose in the tournament and there were no surprises when both captains announced that they are continuing with their winning eleven.

Kolkata: Sourav Ganguly (capt), Brendon McCullum, Ricky Ponting, David Hussey, Mohammad Hafeez, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ajit Agarkar, Ashok Dinda, Murali Kartik, Ishant Sharma.

Chennai: Parthiv Patel, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt and wk), Jacob Oram, S Badrinath, Joginder Sharma, P Amarnath, Manpreet Gony, Muttiah Muralitharan.
